Helpful guide on cheap computer cases

Two types of cheap computer cases

There are two types of cases which correspond to two types of motherboards.

AT: it is the old format of motherboard. Even if some AT motherboards still exit, they tend to disappear.
ATX: it is the current format. It is much more practical than the old one. The series, parallels, USB, connectors are integrated directly in the case. The processor is located under the power cable. The power circuit is more advanced than the AT and makes it possible to power down the computer directly under Windows without pressing the Power button.

The power supply

The power supply of your computer has to deliver enough power for your computer to run. The power is measured in Watt. The average power needed to run a computer is around 250 watt but if you plan to install additional peripherals like CD-Writer I recommend you to buy a 300 watt power supply.

Tip to choose your cheap computer cases

Choosing cheap computer cases depends on what you are planning to do. If you are planning to use your computer for simple home use, to browse the internet or to run some application like Microsoft office (word, excel, PowerPoint......) or for computer office technologies, I recommend you a mid tower ATX with a 300 watt power supply

Now if you are going to use some graphics or video editing software, and planning to upgrade your cheap computer cases with additional hardware parts like special video graphic card and CD and DVD burners, the cheap computer case you will buy must be capable to receive an additional fan. In that case I recommend you a full tower ATX case with a 400 watt power supply
