Computer Cases Identifying the Parts
In this step you will remove the cover of computer cases and identify
the major computer parts inside the case. Identify the screws on the rear of the case and Pay attention to the screws of the power supply.
It’s not necessary to remove them at this time. With the appropriate screwdriver remove only the case’s screws. Set the screws aside and label them if necessary in your documentation because when disassembling computers you may have a few screws of different types.
If your computer has a one piece cover like in the picture, you will notice that four screws hold it in place. To remove this type of cover:
1. slide it a little bit toward the rear
2. lift it straight up about two inches
3. grasp the lower edges and spread them just to clear the sides of the chassis
4. Finally lift the cover up and put it away.
If your computer has a separate side cover, you will need to unscrew only two screws.
Slide the side panel to the rear and pull the cover away from the case.
Identifying the major parts
Now that your cover has been removed you can identify the following parts:
1. motherboard
2. video card
3. hard drive
4. floppy disk drive
5. CD-Rom drive
6. power supply
NB: your computer may have more than six parts installed and they may be located in different places inside the case.
