Motherboards upgrade
Motherboards upgrade is the process of installing a new motherboard in the computer. Some computer manufacturers like (Compaq, Dell, IBM…) have proprietary motherboards that can only be replaced with identical boards.
Things to consider before upgrade
• The size of the motherboard is very important. You must verify that the motherboard will fit inside the case. Also check the alignment of the mounting holes
• Do the front panel connectors (power switch, HDD activity...) work with the new motherboard?
• Compare the built in ports ( COM and LPT)
• Is the motherboard equipped with built in video and sound card or will you have to buy them separately.
• How many expansion cards, number of slots
• Make sure the power connector on the motherboard is on the same side as the power supply
• Will the memory RAM compatible with the new motherboard?
• Will the motherboard compatible with the processor? Or will you have to purchase a new processor?
